175 million years ago, three meteorites flew from the outer space. They landed in three different places and transformed into different persons. For every 200 million years, the sunspots would explode and cause cosmic storms. The power of the fairies in the heavenly territory would then diminish, and the Supreme Demon that represented the power of darkness would appear. The only way to defeat the Supreme Demon was to find a person that was born at a designated time, to be escorted by one of the meteorite transformations to get the “Sam Jong Sutra” (? Tripitaka). The meteorite had to find the other two meteorite transformations during the process. The three would then unite as one by the power of the sutra, to defeat the Supreme Demon when it appeared. Otherwise, the earth would revert to its nebulous state that all the evil spirits wreaked havoc. One of the meteorites became a stone monkey and that was Suen Ng Hung (by Dicky Cheung). Ng Hung assimilated the essence of the sun and the moon and was intelligent by nature, so very soon he became an immortal with great magical power. On the other hand, Li Ching (by Leung Ka Yan)’s wife was pregnant for three years and finally gave birth to Na Ja (by Jimmy Lim). Na Ja was born clever and unusually talented. However, his relationship with his father was bad all along. In order to obtain a weapon in the Eastern Sea, Suen Ng Hung stirred up great trouble in the Dragon Palace (William So as the Dragon King). Finally he got the magic needle “Kam Gong Paang” (lit. means ‘ultra-hard rod’) that was used to steady the Eastern Sea to be his weapon. This resulted in earthquakes and huge waves. The third prince of the Dragon King of the Eastern Sea was commanded by his father to collect the waves. He met Na Ja but was mistaken by him to be the one who caused the waves. Without further clarification, Na Ja punished him by pulling out his cord. In great fury, the Dragon King of the Eastern Sea complained to the Emperor of Heaven (by Tsang Kong). Li Ching was startled to hear what his son had done and decided to make apology by killing him. In such desperate situation, his mother kill herself to bear the son's sin. Na Ja hated his father bitterly for pressing his mother to death, so he cut his flesh and returned it all to his father. Afterwards, his soul was saved by Taoist Tai Yuet (by Hui Siu Hung), and Na Ja followed him to learn magical and spiritual regimen. Ng Hung held a meeting to parade his prowess after getting Kam Gong Paang. There he met the top beauty of the demonic territory – the White Bone Spirit (by Kristy Yeung). At that time, the fairies in the heavenly court discovered Ng Hung's distinguished ability, so they adopted a policy of conciliation and offered Ng Hung the office of But Ma Wan (lit. means ‘stable assistant’). In the heavenly palace, Ng Hung met Fairy Ji Nam (by Charlene Choi), the chief of flowers in the heavenly garden. In fact she was the violet grown upon the meteorite of Fa Kwo Saan (the Mountain of Flower and Fruit) 100 million years ago. During the stay in the heavenly palace, Ng Hung also made acquaintance with Na Ja and the two became good friends after some conflicts. One day, Ng Hung found out that his position was very low and was displeased. Once again he turned the heavenly palace and the peach feast upside down. At last, Yu Loi (Buddha) intervened and pressed Ng Hung under Ng Ji Saan (the Mountain of Five Fingers). Na Ja wanted to save Ng Hung yet failed, and was locked in the magic tower by Li ching. Ji Nam made appeal for Ng Hung but was sentenced with 500 years of confession facing the wall. After 480 years, there in Kam Saan Temple was an 18-years-old monk Tong Sam Jong (by Edmond Leung). He was gifted with supernatural power and a retentive memory, and was expert at Sanskrit language and other languages. At that time the sunspots exploded and the heavenly palace suffered sudden changes. Yu Loi and Goon Yam, goddess of mercy, (by Sammi Cheng) predicted that a great explosion of the sunspots would happen some ten years later. Yu Loi found Tong Sam Jong with the help of Tong Tai Chung (an emperor of Tang Dynasty), and learned that Ng Hung was one of the meteorites mentioned in the scriptures. Under the guidance of Yu Loi and Goon Yam, Ng Hung wore the gold hoop and stepped on the journey, escorting Tong Sam Jong to the west to get the sutra. In the beginning of the journey, Tong took the White Dragon Horse (by Andy Hui), Sa Jung (by Sam Lee) and Ju Baat Gaai (by Eric Kot) as disciples and they went on the journey together. Ng Hung was proud and impulsive in character so he was always in conflict with the merciful monk due to their difference in viewpoints. On the way, Tong Jang was displeased with Ng Hung for killing the living and rebuked him. In anger, Ng Hung left the crew and went back to Fa Kwo Saan. However, when Tong Sam Chong met another demon the Snake Spirit (by Fennie Yuen), he could not help himself but rushed to save his master. The teacher and pupil relationship was deepened after this event. The White Bone Spirit ate the flower of passion that could seduce all men and was she was utilized by Supreme Demon finally. And Ji Nam was released from the heavenly jail. She fled from the heavenly palace to find Ng Hung. The crew arrived at For Yim Saan (the mountain of flames) and they met the Red Boy (by Yuki, Hsu), the Six-ear Monkey, the Ox King (by Wong Yat Fei) and Taoist Fire-wing there. They plotted together to make attack but were defeated by Ng Hung and his fellows. At this point Li Ching and Na Ja were seduced by White Bone Spirit and they fought each other. Later Na Ja was deceived by Supreme Demon and he went into the demonic way in anger. After the battle of For Yim Saan, Baat Gaai was possessed by ghost. He even gathered the evil spirits to attack the crew. Then Tong Jang met a pitiable ghost So So (by Zhang Qian). He promised her to go the ghost territory, expel the Dark Wind Demon and look for her body. They finally arrived at the Mountain of Dark Wind. The Dark Wind Demon deployed the sinister wind formation. Na Ja was also one of the pillars in the formation! The Dark Wind Demon used the magical trick of “calling for the ghosts” and Ng Hung and his fellows were in great danger. While the pupils fail to break through the ghost-formation, Tong Jang cut his vein to release blood, and the air was filled with droplets of blood. The fierce ghosts rushed in for the blood, and were all retrieved by the sacred blood. After a bitter fight, they defeated the Dark Wind Demon. Since then Ng Hung became highly affectionate and loyal. His power also increased greatly. After this battle, the teacher and the pupils became more united. Passing through the Mountain of Dark Wind, they enter the region of the west. The people there were surprisingly devout, but the objects they worshipped were the magic tools fallen down from heaven. The magic pet sent by the Supreme Demon began to do evil. Baat Gaai first met the great liar – the Spider Spirit (by Ai Iijima) and fell in love with it at first sight. Indeed the Spider Spirit was only using Baat Jaai to approach Tong Jang and eat his flesh. Then it showed its true colors and deployed the formation of a hundred of beasts. Ng Hung fought with all his strength and defeated it with the Tripod of Yuu, a magic tool on Ding Wu (the Lake of Tripod). After defeating the formation of a hundred of beasts, the crew continued the journey. To their surprise, they came to the false west paradise in a day. They were so elated, thinking that the task was accomplished and the calamity was passed. However, Tong Jang with his profound understanding found out that it was just an illusion and it disappeared with their awakening. The time was yet wasted and the calamity was at hand, but misfortunes did not come alone. Another Buddhist sacred tool – the Parasol of Seven Transformations (by Lee San San) dashed in and Ng Hung was unable to resist. Only Tong Jang had a clear mind. With an undistracted heart, he recovered this Buddhist sacred tool in one go. Having failed to eat the flesh of Tong Jang, the Spider Spirit wanted to eat Baat Gaai. He fled at last but was hurt by love. Then Baat Gaai accidentally drank the water of Ji Mo Chuen (the Spring of Mother and Child) in Nui Yi Kwok (the country of maidens) and became pregnant. Fortunately he was able to abort it. When they entered this country, Sam Jong found that all the people there were females. It came about that several hundred years ago, a king executed a policy of exterminating buddhism. A monk, before dying in grievances, cast a spell that only females would be born there afterwards. T ong Jang, Sa Jang, Baat Gaai and Ng Hung found So So by chance and discovered that she was one of the three meteorites. However, her meteorite was contaminated with earthly dust while falling into the mortal world so she could not combine with it at once. At the same time, the power of the Supreme Demon grew stronger and stronger. The Blood Demon launched a sudden attack on their way. Ng Hung and his fellows were wounded in the fierce fight. So So, who used to be fearful, stood up and volunteered to help but still they were in a tough fight. Fortunately, the Parasol of Seven Transformations appeared and gave out the sacred light of purification to melt the Blood Demon. Finally, they arrived at Great Lui Yam Temple of the west paradise and brought back the sutra to the central land. Then Tong Tai Chung the emperor issued a decree to spread the sutra. Right at this time, the influence of the sunspots gradually increased and the cosmic storms were getting stronger. The power of the Supreme Demon was enhanced further and was about to start its move in the sealed black hole. The power of the fairies diminished further and the great calamity was coming. Ng Hung and his fellows went at once to stop the Supreme Demon from getting out of the hole. Yet it called Na Ja to the black hole by its demonic power. Li Ching, having realized his faults and self- examined, decided to sacrifice himself in order to save the world from the calamity. He persuaded Na Ja, who was one of the meteorites that sealed up the Supreme Demon, to give up evil and turn back to good, and to help saving the world. Na Ja could not resist the love of blood relationship. Finally he was able to get rid of the evil in his heart a nd joined with them to fight the Supreme Demon. The three meteorites united and they could open the secret inside the sutra at last. At that time, all the people of the country chanted the scriptures, using the mass psychic power to balance the situation of their fight with the Supreme Demon. The Supreme Demon assaulted Ng Hung at the back but Ji Nam shielded him. The White Bone Spirit was also awakened and sacrificed her life for Ng Hung willingly. In extreme sorrow, Ng Hung forgot about love and attained the state of no desires and sainthood, and hence gave out the greatest power. The three combined their psychic power, pushed the Supreme Demon into the black hole and sealed it up successfully. All the heavenly beings also overcame the calamity and regained their power. The sky was clear when the rain was gone. Everyone had his own direction. Ng Hung was greatly awakened after he forgot love. He was appointed the Buddha of Fight, spreading the law of Buddha everywhere
